Paul Renners exhibition projects culminate in the staging of theatrical soirées at which visual arts and performing arts are combined with culinary art in wildly sublime convolutes. His work is informed by the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk, a total art with a particular focus on art as synaesthetic perception. He designed buildings (Theatrum Anatomicum), staged festivals (Vakanz) and together with Medlar Lucan and Durian Gray founded 2000 The Hell Fire Touring & Dining Club.
For Shanghai, Paul Renner created the Fenghuang: metamorphoses, a temporary installation of food, paintings and sculptures, out of which he is converting SPACE by Three into a culinary theater. During the evenings of Fenghuang: metamorphoses which are surrounded by theatric and musical performances, prodigal dining and drinking will be celebrated. Sense and sensibility will be dissected with equal abandon. For this project Paul Renner has partnered with David Laris, executive chef of LARIS Restaurant, Three on the Bund. |

ALGENSCHAL (Seaweed Scarf)

|
While I was intensely working with seaweed, I had the idea of designing a luxurious scarf. The embroidery firm of Hämmerle & Vogel is exclusively producing a limited number of 250 scarves made of extravagant guipure lace. The scarf is seaweed green, 145 cm long and 30 cm wide. The wet glossy effect of algae is created through a special process of pressing and fusing. more » |
