SPACE by three, three on the bund, SHANGHAI (15. - 30. Mai 2010)
Fenghuang: Metamorphoses - which comprises 40 oil paintings and 2 sculptures - in Shanghai, at SPACE by three, three on the bund. In the course of 7 evenings, the metamorphoses will also be celebrated with culinary creations by one of China’s best chefs.

The exhibition is arranged round a temple of 500 kg seaweed. While I was intensely working with this material, I had the idea of designing a luxurious scarf. The embroidery firm of Hämmerle & Vogel is exclusively producing a limited number of 250 scarves made of extravagant guipure lace. The scarf is seaweed green, 145 cm long and 30 cm wide. The wet glossy effect of algae is created through a special process of pressing and fusing.

The wrapping comes as part of the edition. As the scarf is sewn into rice paper that I imprinted with Chinese signets, the wrapping represents a piece of art in its own right.

Price: EUR 400 (including 10% VAT), plus postage and packaging
